Edibles
Grow, Grow, Grow!

- We’re overflowing with veggies!!!

We’re moving into the dog days of summer. (Of course here in Sonoma County we have yet to feel a real heat wave!) This is the time for maintenance and harvest. It’s been a couple months since I amended my soil – the last time was while I was planting in the first place – so I’m headed in to get a few bags of Paydirt to top dress my veggie beds…also a great way to keep weeds at bay. A thin layering in pots will also help the container garden. The biggest thing is to stay consistent on feeding and watering.
Nature always has Her effect on our plants, and this strange summer is no different. If you notice anything that doesn’t look right, bag it up and bring it in. Our expert staff are happy to help you diagnose. Rest assured, you’re not the only one! We’ll help you to get the most out of your garden.
This season, I’m sure we’re all excited for our tomatoes, peppers, melons, cukes, squash, herbs, and plenty more overflowing the harvest tables. We can’t forget the summer fruit; strawberries, figs, pomegranate, pineapple guava (a.k.a. Feijoa) , and avocado.
Oh and those companion flowers I put into the veggie beds are making excellent bouquets. I’ve got some shorter-stemmed flowers in a little “posie” in the bathroom, taller stems in a vase on the kitchen table, and I sent some dinner guests home with a bunch of Lavender the other day.
